Is DesktopHut Safe?
Short answer: yes — the wallpapers, video files and installers you download from DesktopHut.com do not contain malware, and we do not bundle any third-party software with your downloads. Here's the full picture, including a past issue we know shows up in old search results and forum posts.
What changed
In the past, DesktopHut worked with a third-party ad network whose installer included an optional bundled software offer — technically opt-out (there was a checkbox to decline it), but easy to miss. Some users who downloaded through that installer without unchecking it ended up with unwanted extra software on their PC, which is very likely the source of old "virus" and "trojan" reports about DesktopHut you may still find in search results, Reddit threads or old Quora answers from that period.
We've since ended that relationship entirely. DesktopHut no longer works with any ad network that bundles third-party software into installers. Every installer we host today is exactly what it says it is — our own wallpaper app, nothing else riding along with it.
Where your downloads come from
Wallpaper video files are served directly from our own servers. The Windows companion app is available either as a direct installer from this site or through the Microsoft Store, which independently scans every app it lists before publishing it. Neither path installs anything beyond the app itself.
