How we handle copyright takedown notices
DesktopHut respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects our users and contributors to do the same. This page explains how to report content on desktophut.com that you believe infringes your copyright, in line with the notice-and-takedown approach of the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), even though DesktopHut is not a U.S.-based company. This policy complements our broader Copyright Policy.
Our Content
The wallpapers on DesktopHut are created in-house by our team, submitted directly by our community of artists under a license to publish, or properly licensed from third parties. We do not knowingly host content scraped or re-uploaded from another source without permission. If you believe one of our own wallpapers infringes your copyright, we take that seriously and will investigate.
Filing a Takedown Notice
If you believe content on desktophut.com infringes a copyright you own or represent, you can submit a notice through our Discord server. To help us act on it quickly, please include:
- A description of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed.
- The exact URL(s) on desktophut.com where the material is located.
- Your contact information (name and a way to reach you).
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on their behalf.
- Your physical or electronic signature.
Notices missing this information may take longer for us to act on, since we may need to follow up for details before we can identify and review the specific content.
Counter-Notification
If content you submitted was removed in response to a notice and you believe it was removed in error or misidentification, you may submit a counter-notice through the same Discord server, including a description of the material removed, its previous location on the site, and a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed by mistake.
Repeat Infringers
We reserve the right to remove content and, where appropriate, restrict or terminate accounts or submission privileges for users who repeatedly infringe the copyrights of others.
To submit a notice: Join our Discord server and reach out to the team directly. We review every copyright report we receive.
