Trust & Safety

What DesktopHut does — and doesn't — put on your computer

We know "free software" has a bad reputation online, usually earned by sites that bundle toolbars, browser hijackers, or other unwanted extras into their installers. This page explains plainly what DesktopHut does and doesn't do, so you can decide for yourself with real information instead of taking our word for it.

No Bundled Software, No Adware

Our installer contains only the DesktopHut application. We do not bundle any third-party toolbars, browser extensions, "optional offers," or any other software you didn't ask for. Nothing is installed silently, and nothing changes your browser's homepage, default search engine, or new tab page.

Verify It Yourself

Don't just take our word for it — we'd rather you check. You're welcome to scan any file you download from us with VirusTotal or your own antivirus software before running it. If you ever see an antivirus flag one of our downloads, please let us know — a small number of antivirus engines occasionally flag newer or less widely-distributed software as a precaution, which is a known limitation of how those tools work, not a sign of an actual problem on our end. We take any genuine report seriously and investigate every one.

Built to Respect Your System

Our software is designed to be lightweight and to stay out of your way — it automatically pauses your live wallpaper while you're using a full-screen application or playing a game, so it never competes with the programs you actually care about for system resources.

Original Content, Since 2017

DesktopHut has been building and curating live wallpapers since 2017. Every wallpaper in our library is either created in-house, submitted directly by our community of artists, or properly licensed — never scraped or re-uploaded from another source. See our About Us page for our full story, and our Copyright Policy for how we handle intellectual property.

Questions or concerns? We're a small, direct team — if something on this page doesn't match what you're seeing, or you have a security concern to report, reach out through our Contact page or our Discord server and we'll look into it personally.
