- Transparent Funding: DesktopHut is a free project. To cover our costs, we place non-intrusive display ads on our website. We will never use popup ads or ad-supported installers.

A Note On Our History (And Our Mistakes)
DesktopHut has been around since 2017. In our early years, we made a decision we now regret: using a third-party installer that included optional, ad-supported software.
We listened to user feedback and understood this was a mistake that damaged user trust.
We stopped this practice completely years ago. We sincerely apologize to anyone who had a negative experience. The DesktopHut of today, with our new "Luna" software update, is a completely different project built on safety and transparency.
Why does my antivirus sometimes flag DesktopHut? (Understanding False Positives)
With our new DesktopHut Software (Luna v5.2.1), we have worked hard to fix the code structure that caused these warnings. The latest version is now 100% clean on VirusTotal, and we are actively submitting it to antivirus companies to prevent future false positives.
Why does Windows show a "Windows protected your PC" warning?
This is the Windows SmartScreen filter. It appears for many applications from independent developers that haven't been "code-signed" (a very expensive verification process). This warning does not mean the file is a virus. It simply means our publisher name ("DesktopHut") has not been registered with Microsoft yet.
- When the blue window appears, click the "More info" link.
- A new button, "Run anyway", will appear. Click it to proceed.
We plan to invest in a code signing certificate in the future to remove this warning entirely.
